Are drunk words really sober thoughts?!

So my guy and I have been wonderful, smooth sailing since we got together two months ago. However, neither of us wanted something serious to start but found ourselves falling a little. The other night he came over drunk and we were having sex and he said I love you... thinking I might have misheard, I ignored it. Later that night during sex again he said it... again! I responded "did I just hear you correctly?" And he said nothing. The next day he said he remembered pretty much everything but I'm sure I doesn't remember saying that.
