Promise rings

I've been with my bf a little over 2yrs now, we're 16. I've always wanted a promise ring. I've mentioned it a couple times and I don't think he's a big fan of them for some reason? Ik he's committed to me now but I want him to promise that he'll stay committed years from now. Idk, am I asking to much from him?
