yeast infection

I think I may have a yeast infection but I'm not sure because I've never had one or anything like it before. I have weird white  lumpy looking discharge kinda like cottage cheese. I have itching and burning and sex is very uncomfortable now. I haven't told anyone because I'm kinda embarrassed about it. Does this sound like one or something else? And how do I go about treating it?
