Pros and cons if Nexplanon

I'm getting birth control soon and I was planning on getting the implant in my arm. Someone showed me an incident where the implant got lost in someone's arm and it caused her so much pain. Is it a realistic fear that it will happen to me? And what are some pros and cons from experience only?
