My baby won't sleeping her back. Help!?

Question

Help!? My 4 week old all of a sudden will not sleep on her back. She will fall asleep on my chest and as soon as I put her down she wakes up in less than a minute fussing. She will sleep on my chest and on her tummy but I'm afraid of SIDS. Does anyone else have this problem? Is sleeping on her stomach really that bad? Can she sleep on my chest at nights? I'm exhausted from trying to get her to sleep on her back, we have lost a lot of sleep these last few days. She has also recently had heart surgery and I don't want her to expierence any complications.

My son only sleeps on his tummy. I've read that tummy sleep is better than no sleep, you can't help it. He has a little reflux that I think plays a part too.

I had the same problem! Like others I just gave up to! Now he sleeps up to 6 hours at a time on his belly! 😃 I'm happier and so is baby! My son can lift and turn his head from side to side! He's been able to since birth! I just made sure nothing is around and I monitor him a lot! Good luck mama hope it gets better!

If it's in your budget you could look into getting the Owlet foot monitor. That way you can let them tummy sleep and not get too worried. Personally it's worth every penny to me for the peace of mind.

I bought one of these for my little one.  He loves to tummy sleep but, he has silent reflux so he needs to be slightly elevated.  It was well worth the money.  I put it between my husband and I in bed and we can both see his face from our pillows.  I sleep better being able to see him and it's the only way to get him to sleep on his back.

Neither of my kids were back sleepers. #2 especially freaks out if he's on his back. From day 1 both slept on their sides. Even in the hospital, we'd put them on their back and both of them immediately rolled to a side. Don't worry too much about it!

My son has not had heart surgery but he won't sleep on his back hardley either and he is a lil over 3 weeks old, he also won't lay flat on his back as in he has to be elivated up I talked to my dr and she said try letting him sleep in his car seat, ever since then he sleeps really good but sometimes he just wants to be cuddled , every baby is diffrent tho, good luck

My son is the same way. I finally gave in last night and got is boppy pillow and put a blanket over it, and then layed him on it in his crib. He slept much better that way, and his feedings were finally more than 30 minutes apart which gave me a little bit of rest. Maybe give that a try? I know it isn't recommended, but it worked for us!

3 week old daughter hates being flat, bought a halo bedside bassinet and she hasn't even used it. Hated it from day one. She has gas and reflux so I think it bothers her laying flat. She also hates being swaddled with her arms in. Sent my husband to target to buy a rock and play sleeper and she sleeps amazing. She will sleep 4 hours at a time at night. It's slightly inclined and vibrates. They have one that auto rocks too but we just bought the newborn one. It comes up right next to the bed so I have her in arms reach. It has mesh sides and my daughter can turn her head in it just fine. We also use a snuza hero breathing monitor which I love! Clips on the diaper or pants, portable unlike some of the monitors. They are the only two baby items we use every day along with her pack and play for tummy time and to stretch out! She also will breastsleep too on her side for naps laying on our bed.

My daughter is 3 wks and the same way. I put her on her side and she'll wake up and now tht she is older she hates being swaddled so when she is on her back and jumps in her sleep it startles and wakes her. Long story short she sleeps on her belly😩. She sleeps longer and I watch her. My first daughter slept in her stomach fine and she is now 9...i try to do it more during the day but at least one 3 hour period at night I put her on her stomach so I can rest a bit also. She also turns her head side to side.

My first 2 slept in their stomachs bc of same problem. They would sleep on my chest & when I would put them down they'd wake right up. I just wouldn't let them go super long stretches without checking on them. How is the baby's head control in their tummy?
