Do you think it's ok to swear in front of young kids?

I don't.  I am in the military and I picked up the bad habit.  I just think it's trashy and unintelligent. I definitely don't want my kids speaking like that.   But that's just my opinion.

There is a difference between parents who swear in front of their children and those who teach and allow their children to swear. Both myself and my husband will swear in front of our 3 children (aged 13, 11 and 9) but our children are very clear on the fact that that language is only allowed to be used by an adult and they are not allowed to swear. Our children are very respectful and wouldn't ever think to use that sort of language. I taught our 13 yr old right from him being 2 that some words only mummies and daddies can say and he has always accepted this.

Children shouldn't be allowed to swear because it teaches them lazy speech patterns. 
 
It's way too easy to subsitute, "fuck off!" for "this is why I'm mad at you [x]."
 
Teach your kids how to communicate in a respectful and intelligent way first so they have the tools to communicate in a healthy way throughout life. They can choose to talk like street urchins when they're 18!

I only say a few words. Nothing really bad. My kids know they are not allowed to say them until they are adults. We live in a crass society I'd rather they hear this stuff from me and know that it's not ok in polite society than hear it from someone else and think I will blow up at them for saying it around me.
For some reason my oldest came home from school the other day and said the word stupid was a bad word... are we trying to raise a generation of oversensitive cry babies? Yes it's not nice to call someone stupid but the word itself is not bad. It is the way it is used that's bad.
The word bitch used as an insult is bad but the term used in proper context "the bitch is in heat, it is time to breed her" is not bad. Every bad word we have has a real meaning to it and does have a proper context to it. When we teach our kids the meaning behind these words we are educating them beyond what society teaches us.
It's no use getting offended stupid stuff like that. It's shit like that that makes our world hard to live in. Cat shit, as in I wouldn't even compost that in my garden.

We are guilty for swearing infront of our boys, but they know they can't say those words. And I have yet to catch them say it. My brother on the other hand, swears in front of his daughter and he hasn't explained the importance of not being allowed to say those words. My sister in law told her to stop doing something and she got in her moms face and said What the fuck? 😳 so if either of the boys started saying things like that I would definitely mind my mouth better.

I have cousins who always cursed in front of their kids. Those kids picked it up and started cursing without really knowing what they were saying. And my cousins wouldn't stop them. They would just laugh and treat it like it was cute. I tried to teach their kids differently but I wasn't around them enough. These kids are now adults, some with kids of their own. Thankfully, they're better parents then there own and watch what they say in front of their own kids. 
I know sometimes it can just slip out in front of them, so the best you can do is to teach them that it's not acceptable

I told my little sister she can't come around mt kids if she doesn't stop swearing around them.. I can't stand it, it's so nasty.. I don't even like it when strangers do it, it annoys me so much lol

It's extremely rare for me to swear. Occasionally I will slip but never in front of my son. Personally I don't think it sounds very nice and it's a habit that I never picked up. Many of my family members swear in front of my son and he tells them off about it lol its funny. But I feel it's unnecessary and I want my kids to do the same. But to each their own of course!
