What are your thoughts on children having tablets and phones?

Specifically between the ages (2-6)?

I'm loving your thoughts ! I agree I feel tablets can be damaging if the parents don't distribute it properly. My husbands 3 year old nephew will have a psycho tantrum if you take the tablet away from him and it's CRAZY. I remember going outside and playing for hours rather than sitting staring at a screen non stop. It's really sad !

In my opinion I think kids that age shouldn't be on a tablet or phone this world is lazy as it already is, you go to eat dinner and you look around what do you see? Kids, parents on there phones smh but I do let my one year old daughter use a kid kindle fire once a week for 30 min and it's ok lol in my opinion just set a time limit if you can

Tablets maybe ok if it's one designed for kids and very limited usage (I'd keep it limited to in the car/grocery store/doctors office, places where they have to sit still doing nothing for a long period of time). I don't plan on getting my kid a phone. I'll be getting them a FiLIP watch when they get old enough to be away from me for long periods of time, and they can get a phone when they can afford their own.

I guess I'm old school at age 27, what ever happened to a soccer ball?!?!  And those razor scooters or movie time with the family or baking grrrrr today's damn electronics. But then schools now give them out too because the world is advancing in technology but our kids don't know cursive. Or failing because they are too busy playing on them instead of paying attention.

My daughter is 11 months and we do not plan on buying her any kind of tablet. She isn't even allowed to play with our phones

My kids are 10 and 8 and have both. The phone don't have data and its for emergency use like when they stay the night with a friend. Tablets have two games of their choice the rest are educational. But my kids are so active they only use them at Dr appointment or long trips.

I am all for it, when they are used responsibly. There are tons of learning apps for tablets, our city has a wonderful library system where we can check out ebooks and my son can read then in his tablet. As far as a phone, we don't have landlines anymore so yes my kids have cellphones. Buy didn't get them at quite such a young age. They were 9 when they got their phones. They don't have the newest most expensive phones but they have smartphones that cost me 10 bucks each a month so not a big deal. I think the problem with kids having cellphones and tablets comes from parents allowing children to be on their electronic devices constantly and not monitoring content. As with most things I think moderation is the key.

My kids have tablets and they use it under my supervision, phone is definitely a NO what kind of kids are we raising these days? Technology can be very good when is used with responsibility  but you don't want to raise a kid that missed the beauty of being a kid just to be addicted to a phone or tablet.

We have a tablet that we let the kids use. Our kids range from 2-11. We just monitor how much time they spend on it. I don't think there's anything wrong with it as long as they aren't on it all day. The younger two (2 and 4) play education games and then a random racing game) the 9 year old practices her math facts with some math game and does some spa game, the 11 year old plays games for fun. They also read on a regular basis, play outside  (14 degrees and the older 3 are outside whole the 2 year old naps), they play with their toys they have etc etc. The kids have a healthy mix of other things as well so I don't care if they spend some time during the day on a tablet 🙂.

Well I bought my kids a tablet and it's always dead they use it mostly on trips(flights and car rides).... but we are mostly hands on over here making slime and play dough and ice paint... and always baking it they love to decorate the cookie and cupcakes after
