How to politely tell my roomate...

My roomate is about 30-40 years old. He currently rents our basement and has always paid rent on time and is pretty cool for the most part. The only problem is that he is very loud. Slams doors, bangs things in the kitchen... leaves dirty dishes in the sink just unnecessary disrespectful bullshit. Sometimes I take certain things to my mom's because I don't want him to break them. Just uncalled for.. I just don't understand the dude. Another issue is that he never really pitches in for some household stuff really only like dish soap or trash bags or something .. I never say anything only because I feel like it's not my place and because my bf will assume it's just arguing but he's one of those roommates that does everything wrong. How can I politely tell him to be quiet without sounding like a bitch? Luckily we don't have kids or I'd have a cow. Lol
