Taking 4yr old to Hospital

Hi! I'm just after some stories.
Has anyone ever been in the situation where you went into labor alone at home and had to take your small kid to hospital with you until a sitter could pick them up?
My hubby, 4yr old and I moved to NYC from Australia and we're expecting no.2 in early April. We don't know anyone well enough except my hubby's business partner who is our emergency baby sitter if I went into early labor. I'm actually booked in for a csection on a day my little boy has preschool but my concern is going into labor before that date. My only problem is that my hubby and him are away on business trips most of the time and I'm freaking out if I went into labor early. I know hospitals generally don't let anyone under 14 into a labor ward but would they under special circumstances? I'll definitely call the hospital to confirm but just wondering what other mums have done. My hubby isn't traveling in March for this reason but he's away most of Feb.
