Odd question about traveling.

Can you get in trouble if you go on long car ride at 9 months pregnant? My mother lives in KY and was just diagnosed with cancer, she is dying as I speak, I'll be 40 weeks pregnant Wednesday, my husband thinks if I go it can be considered child neglect and we will get in trouble but I can't not go see my mom and of something does happen I can't not go to her funeral?

PS. My mom is actually my mamaw because she adopted when I was little and im not on speaking terms with my actual mom.
