Placenta 1/2

I had an 8hour natural labor with my son. Everything went smoothly except that I had to be cut a little down there during the delivery. After they moved my son over to weigh him and do what they do. I had to deliver the placenta my midwife told me to give one push and only 1/2 of my placenta came out. So since my placenta broke in half it was profusely bleeding because we all know know it delivers nutrients through blood. My midwife had to go up there and rip it out so I wouldn't bleed to death. Had any of you had the issue of your placenta breaking in half?????
