Advice on making friends

I'm a sophomore in high school and I am really shy in my classes. I never talk in class. I sometimes try to talk to my classmates but I get a vibe that they just do not care about talking to me. I don't know what to do. I only have 2 friends and I barely see them anymore. I sit alone at lunch. It's really depressing because I genuinely am a nice person if you just get to know me. Im not asking to be popular I just want a small group of friends who care about me and are loyal. What should I do?
