Baby shower vs. Welcoming party

This will be my 3rd child...the 1st is a boy and will be 6 by the time the baby is born and the second is a girl and will be 3...this time it's a boy...I know that there are some rules to baby showers but I don't know all of them...any and all advice/ thoughts are greatly appreciated...thanks
