Would this relationship work?

I'm catholic, and my boyfriend is atheist. We don't really talk about religion and he accepts my religion and I accept his. He even said when we get married it can be in a church. When I went to visit some friends I brought him up and his religion afflictions and they said my relationship wouldn't work out... I'm very disheartened by this because I'm very accepting of his but to be told it wouldn't work us from close friends hurts.. I just need advice on knowing if relationships like this can work out.. I really am starting to love him. Thank you in advance!

Yes it will work out. Never tell anybody especially people you're close with who believe in God and religion that you're dating somebody who doesn't. It will only cause issues and more times than not they will all look at him differently. In my honest opinion it's none of their business what he believes in. As long as he's good to you should be the only thing that matters. 
My fiancé's family hates me and they hated me more once the found out I didn't believe in god and now my fiancé doesn't either. They didn't want to believe it but it is what it is.

Depends how devout you are and how much bending he may have to do as a result... also if you decide on children do you expect them to follow your religion/go to church/ be christened... would he take issue with this and want them neutral till there old enough to decide... once you have a frank conversation about this and agree on things then you should be fine... it's not something you should put on the back burner... religion can be a powerful divider if you let it be.

I'm very religious, husband is an atheist.  We've been together 10 years this March, married 5 in June.  Basically we don't discuss religion every 5 seconds, he comes to church events with food like fish fries, spaghetti dinners etc and knows my congregation and they know he's not a believer. It's 0 problem.  With our kid we've agreed no baptism and my faith doesn't christen. I believe baptism isn't necessary to go to heaven and is one of the most beautiful choices you can make.  Kiddo will go to church regularly with me until they say they don't want to go/don't believe and if kiddo wants do be baptized and pastors agree they are ready (not just doing it because it looks cool but actually for faith) then hubs will support.

The only issue that might arise is when y'all have children. I would definitely discuss that topic as well. Also you might need to get used to the idea of not being able to get married in a Catholic Church. In all the Catholic Churches I know both parties have to be practicing Catholics. But as long as that is still ok with you, then there is no reason why it couldn't work. My dad is Lutheran and my Stepmom Muslem and they have been happily married 15 years now.

You're in a relationship with him and you, not him, you, and your friends. Why on earth would your friends have any say in whether or not things will work out between the two of you?

The only people who can make your relationship work is you and your him. The only people who know if your relationship is working or not are you and him.

There's more to it than that.. I mean doesn't he need to be confirmed in the religion to have a wedding in the Catholic Church? Is that something he's OK with? Is he OK with your future children being christened in the Catholic religion? These are all things you should talk about and if the answers aren't on the same page, then you might have a problem in the future.

I was falling for a guy so i broke up with him because he was an athiest... We had many discussions trying to make it work but it came down to 2 problems..
1. I believe i will be one with my husband in heaven and i can't marry someone who won't be with me in heaven.
2. How we wanted to raise kids was opposite. I couldn't allow my husband to potentially take my kids to hell.
Those might not seem omportant at first but i am so glad i thought about the future...and eternity. Because those are big.
And now i am married to an amazing man who helps me be closer to God. He is who God wanted me to marry. I made the right decision.
