Paragard?

Question

I know this isn't the best group to post this in. But since having my LO no other group is this active. Has anyone had or know if anyone who has had a Paragard? I need opinions.

I had two over about 13 years total  (one mysteriously expelled after like 9 years of working fine). I did experience spotting for a few months post-insertion, but otherwise I really liked this BC method - it's nonhormonal but still about as foolproof as you can get! I noticed just by comparison after the second one, they do seem to make your period last a day or two longer - mine shortened to 3 days once I no longer had the IUD (but who knows, that could be related to aging too). Never affected cramps or anything for me. And I'm pregnant about a year of not-trying-not-preventing after having had Paraguard that long. I'd recommend!

I had it before I had kids and I hated it. I had it taken out after 2 months.

I had it and liked it. It made my periods last a day or so longer. And it made the flow a LOT heavier. So I switched to using a cup instead of tampons, and then I didn't have to rush to the bathroom all the time.

It also gave me cramps, when I'd never had any before. So I bought a heating pad.

The great part though is that since it's non-hormonal, I wasn't depressed and didn't hate myself (the way I do when using any kind of hormonal birth control), so I'm a big fan of it!

I got the Paraguard put in after 5 years with a Mirena. I had it for 4 years before we took it out to TTC. It was wonderful, and is my go-to after this baby.

I had it for 3 years and had no problems. I took it out so we can TTC. Conceived a year later.

I had it for 4 years had absolutely no problem with it took it out to plan a pregnancy... I'm now expecting 😀😄
I totally recommend it.. Make sure you find a good doctor with experience to put it in

I had it for almost 2 years and I liked it but I had precancerous cervical cells so I had to have it removed to have a procedure and couldn't have it again right away because the string would interfere. Now that I'm pregnant and its been about 3 years I'm hoping I can get it again after the baby.
