Food shamed π π π€π€π’
We started our free birth classes at our local hospital week before last. We signed in, filled out forms and basic info about our pregnancy. Then we were asked to fill out a form with everything we had eaten since dinner the night before. I filled mine out exactly, with portions and descriptions since we eat cultural foods like Indian and I make healthier home made options of our favorites. I put down healthy home made chicken tikka masala with a small portion of wild plain long grain rice, from scratch healthy pizza, a spinach and spring lettuce salad with vinaigrette, and a friggin' donut to name a few things they took issue with. We went back for a class last night and we're handed these stapled packets with all of the nutrition info from our meals. The effed up my whole chart. They changed/switched my foods, added "creamy dressing and croutons" to my salad when I did not list them and had a home made basalmic vinaigrette. My tikka was switched to buttery biryani with chicken, and they added fatty rice made with butter. Who the hell adds butter to plain rice when I specifically put I made healthy plain rice! My donut was switched to cake and my healthy pizza was switched to "takeout/fastfood." So not only is my health or nutrition info incorrect, I'm furious because it is in my chart and whoever typed this up was a judgemental a hole who just assumed I was lying! I work hard to eat healthy and get judged all the time because my bump and baby are measuring large, and to be shamed and have our instructor try to tell me I needed to change my habits and diet was devastating! I eat fruit, whole grains, and healthy dairy options and we only eat out once or twice a month and always go for healthier options when we do. We stay active and go on long walks and I do yoga and chase our 3 beagles around every day along with keeping a large house. I'm so frustrated! Am I just being hormonal or would anyone else take issue with this?
