Trying a version or scheduling a c-section?

So I'm 36 weeks 5 days. Baby is breech and more than likely not turning on his own. They've offered to try a version where they flip him or I could just elect for a c-section. I've always been terrified to have a c-section but I don't know if I want to put myself through the version and given that it works then getting induced which could take days! Opinions?

If it's your first and you think you might have more kids, definitely try everything. Having a section can really complicate future pregnancies. Saying that as a mom who had a section and two going on three vbacs. :)

Surgery isn't the worst thing in the world, and maybe it's the best choice for you, but you could always try the version and quit if it's painful or taking too long.

My baby is breech at 35 weeks and my version is scheduled for next week. While I'm not looking forward to it, I did watch YouTube videos to give me an idea of what's in store for me, none of the moms in the video were screaming or crying. They roughed it out. 
If you were willing to go pain free in delivery before you found out your baby is breech, then you are okay with the pain of labor. Version isn't going to be nearly as painful, which makes me suggest you just go for it.

If you are a FTM you have no idea that you can barely move around for 5-9 days after a vaginal delivery. Your groin is too tender and you shuffle, not walk. Recovery for a c-section is much longer and tougher. Your core is out of commission so sitting, laying down, moving in general hurts.

If you have someone to help you for 2 weeks after a csection, go for it, you'll need to be dependent on others. If not, opt for the version so you can heal faster and be independent.

My baby is breech & I have a csection booked for 38 weeks. My OB won't try and turn the baby as my blood pressure up and doesn't want to cause any placenta issues. So a c section it is! Not what I wanted initially but if it's what's needed to get bub here safely then so it will be. Good luck with yours :)

I would choose the csection. I know they closely monitor you, but I wouldn't want to even risk the cord wrapping around the babies neck. I'm not sure the possibilities of that, but I know two people who's baby flipped on their own at 36-37 weeks and sadly didn't make it. I know worse case scenario emergency csection if that were to happen while they were doing the version, but I personally wouldn't even want to risk that.

My sis in law had a successful version - she had an epidural and said it wasn't bad at all - just felt pressure - and there is a risk of going into labor/needing csection with the version procedure, so another reason to have it done with an epidural. She then had to be induced later, but all in all said it was a good experience/glad she did it. Best of luck with your decision and L&D!
