When are you allowed to leave on maternity leave?

Just seeing what time others are allowed to leave for maternity leave? It's doesn't matter where you are located, though I live in Ontario, Canada.

I chose not to take any (at my in laws request because I work for them) but I'm starting to think I should ask for some time off.

When baby is here unless dr puts me on bed rest

Whenever you feel you can no longer work. Just ask your dr to release you from work and start you on maternity leave . In California where I'm from you're allowed 6 weeks maternity so drs advise you to stay at work as long as you can so you can have more time with your baby.

I live in BC and if you go on the Service Canada website under the maternity leave section, there's information on how early you can apply for leave.

Where I am, you can go on maternity 15 weeks before the baby's due date and you have a year off ☺️

I live in Alberta and took Maternity leave at 32 weeks due to high blood pressure. I'm pretty sure 32 weeks is the earliest you can take maternity leave in Canada but can take medical leave sooner than that if needed with your docotors recommendation.
