Contractions stopped - is this normal?

I had my last cervical check at 39 weeks on Tuesday at 4:30 pm. Around 9 pm I started having mild contractions every 10 minutes, but nothing completely unbearable. They were definitely stronger than BH though. I had them all day yesterday every 10 minute. Last night went for a walk. They started getting stronger and more painful, and I had a hard time getting any sleep. I fell asleep for about 2 hours straight this morning, and when I woke up the contractions had pretty much stopped completely. Is this normal after having them so consistently for so many hours? I've also been losing my mucus plug over the last several days, and it is almost always blood tinged now.
