Annoying, strange and confusing.

Leah Margaret • 3 children to adore, and adding one more! My fiancé Craig and I are expecting pink bows on 06/04! 🎀
I have been experiencing something rather strange the past two weeks or so. (Although it is something that has been happening overnights for about 2-3 months now). I have no upper teeth and wear dentures. Unfortunately due to the swelling of my gums I have not been wearing them on a regular basis, or at all. I NEVER wear them at night. As stated for the past few months I would wake up at night noticing that I am running my tongue and my bottom teeth along my upper gums. Not so much grinding or clenching but just constantly rubbing them. Now for the past week and even more so the past few days I have found myself purposely rubbing my teeth against my gums as often as possible just for the feeling. It's not painful and my gums aren't bleeding from it but I can't seem to stop, and I don't want to. I'm not sure why this is happening. I enjoy the sensation. This is COMPLETELY new for me. I have never had this urge previously (I had them taken out less than a year ago and did not have this happen at all during times when I did not wear my dentures pre-pregnancy. And because they were taken out less than a year ago this is my first pregnancy where I am having this happen. I did have tooth/teeth problems/pain and gum inflammation in my other pregnancies as well as having teeth removed and worked on in my previous pregnancies but THIS is a complete first and a complete mystery to me.) Could this be a form of pica (or whatever it's called- the urge/want to eat something that isn't food) or something else? Has anyone else had something like this happen? Like possibly having the urge or need to possibly pop pimples? Or scratch constantly? I'm just very confused, and even as I'm typing this I find myself rubbing my molars back and forth over my gums, bringing my jaw forward and then backwards to create an almost stress relieving sensation. I also gently bite down as if I were eating something, in the same place without moving my jaw over and over. (Basically chewing on my gums). It's only gotten noticeable in the past two days, and I do plan on calling my OBGYN in the morning, but I would love to know if anyone has had something similar happen. I've tried to google it with no luck, wording it in many different ways with no difference. I certainly hope this is just something simply treatable because as much as I enjoy the sensation I'm also annoyed at the need to continue to do it.
Sorry if this seems strange, it is as much to me as it is to you. And thank you for those who can help.
