...... will there ever be such thing as "equal"? I apologize for the length!
I can feel the hate coming already, but it's been driving me crazy so I'm going to say it anyway.
POC are always saying that things aren't equal for them and "white" people.
I personally don't believe color should have anything to do with how people are treated because I've seen assholes come in all shapes and colors.
But here's the thing that really gets me....
A friend of mine applied for a job with a fairly big company where an acquaintance of mine works as a higher up ( both are white)
The friend was one of 3 people who made the cut for the second interview and was a shoe in for the job. He had multiple years of experience in that particular field.
When the desicion was made and he was told they had decided to go with another applicant, he reached out to the guy he knows in the company to see what it was the were looking for that he didn't have...
The guy flat out told him that they hired the POC who wasn't as qualified because they get in trouble for not having a certain % of POC in the workplace. So it literally didn't matter that he was more qualified, it mattered that he was white.
The same thing happens to my friends in the union, they are told they have to put minorities and POC back to work before other people because they get in trouble by labor unions if they don't ( regardless of work ethic and experience )
Now don't get me wrong, I know that racism is still a very big thing in a lot of the country, but how can we ever be equal if we aren't allowed to hire or not hire based on color?
