boyfriends family? is this right?

So, I work at a place that occasionally people drop of tame pigeons. One was hurt and was there for two weeks. So I decided to take him home to nurse him back to health and then take him to a rescue. So I get home and I see his family having a family meeting(without my boyfriend). His sister sees me and asks what's in the box that I had. I told her the ordeal and she just lost it! She was yelling at me to not bring it in the house and that it's not my house(I understand this) but how else an I supposed to get the bird upstairs on the balcony. So I proceeded to ignore her and go to my room, close the door and lock it. My boyfriend finally comes in the house and that's when everything went down hill. His mom was yelling at us(mostly in Cantonese so I didn't understand most of it). Then the sister comes in and starts yelling, and saying that you can't just bring a wild pigeon home and that they have like over 500 diseases. I told her that the tame ones don't. And that she is crazy if she thought I'd bring a wild pigeon home. Then the father came home and threatened that he called the security gate and to pack my stuff and leave, well here's the thing, he won't let me keep my car here, so I told him in what car. Then his sister says that I need to respect his parents!(which I get too) but I responded with "oh like they respect me! Do you have any idea how much stuff of mine they have thrown out without telling me, and the s$&@ they say about me behind my back?!" She shut up right away. Anyway, I had to let the pigeon go in wild, it probably didn't survive. I talked to me bf and we are moving out. I apologized to him about everything that happened and he says it's not my fault. His mom was texting me the next day saying that her relationship with her son is no good anymore(I didn't respond). Told my bf about that as well, and he says that they pushed him farther away from them so he doesn't care anymore. He would rather be with me than have his family around because they are always negative/toxic.
Do you think this is a good idea?
