boyfriend said I can't go to sisters graduation?

My boyfriend and I just moved into an apartment together. Neither of us have jobs and until then, his family is paying the rent. I booked plane tickets back in january to attend it in may. He said I can leave if I go. Cause it's a responsiblity to rent an apartment and it'll be reckless if I go without paying my half. He said if I pay my half, he doesn't care what I do. He said neither of us can afford the luxury of going anywhere right now. My mother bought those tickets and my sister expects me to attend her army graduation from tech school. I can't pull $971 out of my butt. He had already paid mays rent. I asked for $600 from my mom already and she's giving me that today, I have $400 more to go cause i'm short. What do I do? He's giving me th ultimatum of leaving/ moving out of the apartment with my name on the lease or paying my half and going.

Apparently he doesn't understand how ridiculous he sounds. Your mom paying for a ticket has zero to do with rent. His parents are paying and he doesn't seem to have a problem with that. I'd say 'ok, bye' and move out before you have to deal with him any longer.

If you were spending your money on the ticket instead of paying rent,  I maybe able to understand.  But the ticket was basically a gift, so he can shove his ultimatum

This is awful. Life is short and you will regret not being there for the important stuff. There isn't a person on the Planet (including my husband) that will make me miss my little brothers graduation.

He sounds abusive and manipulative. 1. He should Not be isolating you from your family and 2. His parents are covering rent but he wants You to take more money from your mom (who paid your plane ticket as a gift) to cover rent? That makes zero sense. His ass can get a job. He's acting like He is he one paying his half when in reality it's his parents and if he wanted you to pay half that should have been the agreement initially.

I would Never be with a man who gave me an ultimatum like that. My husband knows how much my brother means to me and would Never get in the way and I would never get in the way of him supporting his sister. You deserve better.
