Can't be happy

My dog got hit by a car and killed last Saturday, and we were making plans to get a puppy this summer, when we got a BFP on Friday. Now hubby says we shouldn't get a new dog for a couple of years!

I know it's stupid, I've been trying to get pregnant for three years and I can't even be happy about it because I'm so sad and stressed about the dog. I'm a huge dog lover and have been all my life. We got this dog to be the dog our babies would grow up with, and I'm so brokenhearted.

Would it be that bad to get a puppy? It would be housebroken and at least partly trained before the baby was born in January.
