Best brand of thermometers for babies?? (rectal or armpit)

My son is 5 weeks old with a cold and I want a better thermometer to monitor his temp. I want to buy a rectal one for him so I can get a more accurate temp. What's the best brand of actual rectal thermometers for babies? Also what are some good brands of thermometers to take armpit temperature with as well??

Hi. I have a 2 week old and my hospital discourages rectal readings. The said some parents cause more damage in the return Bc they are inserting too deep. They said under the armpit or forehead scans are fine. I have a Braun forehead scan but I think most out there works fine.

I have one of those safety forest kits that comes with a thermometer. I always did armpit bc my hospital discouraged rectal temps and said armpit works just as well.

I have the Safety First rectal thermometer, the probe is short so you pretty much can't put it in too far plus it reads in about 5 seconds which is super fast.

We use exergen temporal thermometer and love it. My son will giggle when we scan his forehead. He could have a temp and still be giggly!

I feel like the armpit temp isn't the closest temp though. My first would be a rectal thermometer if I was concerned about a fever. Then the forehead one. Idk about your LO but mine moves around wayyy too much for the armpit thermometer lol

I just have a regular one you'd put under your tongue but the package says can be used rectally. My hospital and my pedi says to do rectal for an accurate temp. Only put in the small silver tip at the end!
