Can a baby overeat?

Question

Baby is 3 weeks old and has been wanting to nurse almost every 45 minutes. He will nurse for about 10-15 minutes each side. Once he's done, he will spit up a little bit. Can I over feed my baby? He's super gassy and won't stop crying until I give him the boob..

I don't know about over eat but they can definitely get too much especial  if you have a fast flow. With my first she would nurse every few hours but only for about 15 minutes then projectile vomit everywhere. I was worried she wasn't eating enough but was told by the dr she was most likely getting too much milk and throwing up the excess that she didn't have room for. Try nursing laying down, switching sides and taking a break inbetween to burp :) goodluck!

Sometimes they can, but your baby is young. Cluster feeding is normal. Growth spurts can cause them to eat more. Spitting up can be very normal. If it's just little amounts don't worry too much. Something you eat or drink can cause discomfort in your baby when breastfeeding. After nursing pack babes back while propped on your shoulder. Hold baby upright for about 30 minutes.

It's unlikely while breastfeeding. Is this an everyday thing or just today? Cluster feeding during growth spurts is quite normal. Also, some babies with reflux will want to frequently nurse because the milk will help soothe their irritated esophagus.

I would only worry about it if your bottle feeding, breastfeeding they'll quite when their full...could be a growth spurt

Yea you can they should be eating every 2-3 hours not 45 minutes....
