When to up formula?

So our 6 week old has been drinking 4oz every 3-4 hours for a couple of weeks. Sometimes 5oz if he's still fussy bit that's not typically the norm. My question is, when do I know when to up his formula? Does that affect the time in between feedings? Any advice would be great!

Answer

I went up an ounce when baby was consistently draining whatever I was offering. Do a trial run of offering a couple bigger bottles and see what happens. If he takes more than his usual 4oz he's ready to go up, if he stops at about 4 he's not quite ready. Changing the amount never seemed to change our timing.

If you notice you are having to give him an extra oz all the time then you up it. For us it didn't affect timing of bottles.
