advice/thoughts

My husband is currently on a golf trip. I logged on to pay the cell phone bill and noticed a weird number, the area code of the number is where he is currently playing golf. This text was sent (just one) at 2am. I google the # and it was a girls #.  So I call him. He said one of the guys he was with asked to borrow his phone cause his was dead and he didn't know what for. They were all drunk and my husband was trying to take care of his one friend that was super wasted, so he just gave the guy his phone. From what I can see there was only one text sent. Nothing received back. My husband said when he looked at his message this morning the message was deleted so he assumes the guy that used his phone deleted it. I trust my husband but these facts see super shady. And I also don't want to be dumb and let it go. Not sure what to think
