Pacifier?!?

Is this an issue? I am a FTM and for some reason it scares me to let me little one have one. Her dad keeps trying to give it to her, she was fairly small and we didn't have one small enough at first. Now that she's a little bigger she just took one and I don't know how I feel about it. Is this an issue like everything else where some people say it's bad and others good? or am i just being a helicopter mom already and freaking out about nothing?! help!
