Do you think women of color (or just women in general) have to work twice as hard just for the chance of getting the same positions as white men?

So I'm watching an episode of the Mindy Project and it starts with the main character (a 30 something Indian woman) wishing she was a white man after she's passed up for a promotion by an all male white hospital committee who wants to promote yet another white man into the director position for the hospital. The show then goes into detail about how a woman of color has to look twice as put together as any white man and be twice as qualified to be even considered for the position, and even then they still won't get the job over a white man (and terrible doctor). So I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts on this are.

Well it's been proven numerous times that it's more difficult to get a job when you're a women, and even more when you're a women of colour. It's not a matter of belief, these are facts.

this is where the wage gap example comes in. when a black woman earns 64 cents to every white mans dollar or a hispanic woman earns just 55 cents to that, theres a problem. were getting paid almost half as much for the exact same job!!! why? because america is still racist!!!!! this is why jobs want you to keep your salary on the dl too, so they can keep scamming you!!! competitive salary costs them more money so they discourage it. tbh just figure out how much everyone else on the same job is making and make sure you bring it up to your employer if its unfair

It's been my personal experience. But I will say in the end when my managers realized the  people they picked over me were doing a terrible job they needed me and had to grovel. Even though my pride wanted to say f that and let them suffer I've taken the jobs  (happened twice) and they can't help but praise my work ethic.

Not in most businesses, if anything positive discrimination makes it easier. The difference is that many women feel pressure to prioritise their personal/family lives or to act differently to men (e.g. Less assertive) which interferes with career progression.

In my experience, no. But I have very limited experience, I'm a midwife which is almost completely run by women!
I do agree that people of color do have to work harder and are judged more harshly than white people, but I do not know about women of color specifically.

My mom is Filipino, she has a good job as a DOCTOR because she worked for it, a skein color didn't stop her. You think a white dude had to do less than her? You're sex or race has nothing to do with your job, if depends on how well you work and what you do to achieve your goal.
