So... I was having a conversation with my mom and grandma about breastfeeding in public because they were telling me how much my cousin supports it. They were making fun of her and saying that she is weird for caring so much. I was like "well, all she's doing is feeding her child... it's natural." Their stance/response is "well, so is taking a shit or piss so why doesn't everyone do that out in the open?" I try not to even argue because people often jump my shit.

There's bathrooms to piss in, right? There's a place to defecate and there's a place to eat. You wouldn't eat where people piss, so why should my baby have to? Because you're afraid your husband will look? You've got bigger problems if you're worried about that (not you OP)

My dad is super against breastfeeding in public, especially uncovered. I shut him down real quick when he started talking about it. I told him he wouldn't want to come to the hospital or my home or invite us over then because I plan on breastfeeding when necessary. He hasn't discussed it in front of me since then. 😂

Pissing and taking a dump in public is a health risk. Breastfeeding doesn't spread disease. It's not even close to the same thing. Also, we have designated areas for defecating. A woman shouldn't have to feed her baby on a public toilet.

Pissing and shitting have these magical places called bathrooms for you to do it in. Eating and drinking have these magical rooms and tables to sit at while doing it. If your ass isn't in the bathroom every time you eat then my child will not be fed their either. Period.

And pissing and shitting in the streets is super unhygienic. The fact that they think that's comparable to breastfeeding makes me worry about their hygiene standards.

Personally the most 'offensive' (using that term loosely) part of a woman's breasts is the nipples and they're covered up by a babies head?! I see nothing wrong with it.

I don't agree with them. Breastfeeding is obviously completely different. But they are right in the sense that saying something is "natural" therefore right, is not a good argument. But oh well. My family says the same. It's just really ridiculous to me that people have such an issue with breastfeeding. Strange individuals.

I wouldn't compare where I feed my baby to where I take a sh*t. I don't think it's fair to compare milk with urine or feces. Next time you see them show em this post lol and they can see how silly of a response that is. And like tiger said a woman shouldn't have to be held captive in her home or dismissed to where people actually do urinate just because something that is a natural and beautiful thing makes THEM uncomfortable. Or worrisome that their hubby's are going to get turned on watching a mother feed her child. My response to that is if you think that's something that may interest your husband than you have bigger problems my dear!
