The Best and almost Worst day of my life!

Amanda • Mom of girls! 💖 7 💕 5 💗 17months 💓 2weeks

I finally did it! I had my 3rd baby, this time 100% natural. No pain meds, nothin! I was so calm and remembered all of my breathing techniques.

I woke up on my due date and felt like today was the day. Contractions were about 15 min apart. Went in for my 40 week appt and was only 2 cm dilated still. I went for 2 walks, bounced on my ball all afternoon, drank some smooth move tea and took my evening primrose oil pill. Around 9 pm contractions were about 6 min apart so I got into my tub to try to get a little rest because I knew it was going to happen. About 10pm I called for my SO to get our older girls ready because it was time to go. We had a 45 min drive. We got in and I was STILL 2cm dilated. I walked until about midnight and laid down to rest a bit, nurse came in and I thought she was going to send me home, to my surprise I was at 6cm! I decided to stay in bed and relax and keep my focus. My midwife came in at about 1:30 and said I could get into the tub after she checked me so we filled the tub and I was at 8cm. I was in for about 20 minutes before my water broke and I felt a crazy sensation to push. I knew I couldn't give birth in the tub because of the rules at my hospital so my midwife and SO pulled me out and I literally sprinted to the bed, squatted on it and in 4 pushes baby Charlotte was born at 2:34 am.

Everything went great! No tears, she was a breast feeding champ. Midwife went home at about 4:30 and we all got ready for some sleep. Around 5:30am I had a weird feeling to push again, I thought there was another baby in me. So I pushed and these huge blood clots started squirting out of me. I called for the nurse who called another one, who called my midwife back in and she called for an OR staff. Within minutes my room was filled with over 15 people and I was bleeding uncontrollably. They told me after I came back into consciousness that part of my placenta was still stuck in me and wouldn't allow my uterus to heal so I kept contracting and loosing blood. If it wasn't for one brave Dr and her tiny hands going completely inside me to pull the rest of the placenta out I would have gone into surgery and they would have removed my uterus.

My SO thought I was going to die. He said i was completly white and my eyes were in the back of my head. I can even imagine bow he felt, just having a baby then waking up to a room full of people and getting kicked out while your fiance flat lines. It could have been the worst day of my life, but we are all doing great now. I'm getting blood transfusions and baby is sleeping great, and my hunny can't stop telling me how much he loves me!
