epidural.. does it work?

Im 32 weeks pregnant. Its my second pregnancy. I had an epidural for my first labour and i went from passing out from the pain of contractions to sitting up watchig a film with no pain at all. I thought the epidural was fantastic... until it came to pushing and i felt everything, the pain in my legs (suffered really bad with sciatica) felt myself being torn, just felt everything. Im now wondering if it was because  it wasnt topped up close to starting to push. Please tell me some of you didnt feel any pain whilst pushing because of the epidural?! Im starting freak out because i know what the pains like and im dreading going through that again 😭😭

I had zero pain with the epidural. Towards the end, my body was shaking and my face became really flushed from all the hard work my body was going through, but there was absolutely no pain, and I didn't have problems pushing. Perhaps I was really lucky with the epidural, but it was a great L&D experience for me.

I had an epidural and they made me simmer down when it was time to push and I felt everything and I'm just like you. I'm dreading labor I'm terrified of it I felt the episiotomy, I felt it tear, I cried because of how bad it hurt not because my baby was born like everyone thought. Next time I'm pushing that damn button whether they want me to or not idgaf what they say. I paid $800 for that sucker and I'm using every last damn drop of it this time! I couldn't enjoy holding my baby because I ripped up and down and had an episiotomy and couldn't stop crying so if they tell me not to push that button they're dead wrong if they think I'll listen

I didn't feel any pain at all with my epidural just the pressure. I was even very careful with how much dose of it I was getting and made sure I was numb but also would still move my legs and practice push a little bit to make sure I could still feel what I was doing cause I didn't want to be 100% numb and everything worked out fine

I'm 39 weeks pregnant with my second baby, with my first one I wanted to go natural, but I freak out when I started to feel contractions, so I asked for an epidural, at the moment of birth I barely felt the pain... Very small, I was pushing for an hour and I didn't felt any pain, my baby's shoulders got stuck in the birth canal, a nurse jump on me and hit my stomach with her elbow to help the baby... I did not felt that either!! I just remember seeing her jumping on the bed! She later apologize, but I told her that was fine, it's her job! I remember my legs being FAT! like really fat, I think I uses to much medice, I couldn't move for the next two hours! With this pregnancy we went to go all natural, but it's been kinda of a bad pregnancy so I think I will take the epidural again.

It sounds like the doctor stop the medicine on you. I have read that some doctors stop the medicine when it's time to push.
