birth story - 9 months late ππ
Well you know you've become a mom when 9 months later you're just posting your birth story! I've been seeing lots of these lately and it just made me go back to the day I met my baby boy. At almost 36 weeks I was 1cm dilated, which my doctor seemed surprised and a little worried about being 4 weeks away from my due date. So I was told to keep it easy and no sex at least for that week. At 36 weeks & 4 days I went into labor & delivery triage because of consistent contractions for 3 hours! I was 3cm dilated and 70% effaced and stationed at -1. Couldn't believe I progressed that much in just 5 days! Ended up loosing my mucus plug pretty quickly after they had me walking the halls, was all excited thinking this might be it, but then after being checked again I was only between 3-4 cm and still 70% effaced. Since I'm not 39 weeks yet they couldn't help me, but they wouldn't stop the contractions because I am far enough along that it's okay if he is born. Had my follow up appointment later that day and to my disappointment I was still the same, but he was fully engaged now. I was still getting inconsistent contractions & Braxton hicks and could barely sleep for the week to follow. It was so uncomfortable and being August I was so hot and I just would get so upset. At my 38 week appointment I was still the same and just was fed up thinking he wasn't going to be coming until the 40 week mark or maybe even later. My doctor ended up offering to induce me at 39 weeks because she kept saying that women with smaller frames had a harder time carrying a baby my son's size and with it being over 90s she didn't want me to have to be pregnant any longer. I didn't want to schedule to be induced, but I was hoping that he would come out on his own before then. I was so excited and was more relaxed knowing it wouldn't be much longer. I would bounce on my birthing ball every day, especially when I felt those Braxton hicks and contractions. I walked inside and out (despite the fact that it was so hot out). At 38 weeks and 4 days me & my boyfriend were so ready to meet our son we did the deed to see if that would help any. I knew none of these things would help unless it was actually time for him to come. I woke up around 7:45am that morning and felt a little weird. I got up to go to the bathroom and noticed that I was bleeding. I was scared at first until I realized that this was my bloody show. I called my doctor and she wanted me to come in that day instead of waiting until the next day for my appointment. She checked for me and said it was my bloody show and she went ahead and she stripped my membranes (for the second time). She was sad (but happy for me) because she thought I would go before the 2nd and she wouldn't be able to deliver for me. The next day I still was feeling weird and I woke up at 5am and couldn't go back to sleep. I had a feeling this was going to be the day. I went and got some McDonald's breakfast and ended up just lounging around. Still nothing. Had 2 bowls of chili for dinner, because that was what my boyfriend's mom did for her first, it was mostly a joke, but anything can help at this point, right? That evening around 9:30pm my water broke. At first I though no this can't be it and I proceeded to leave and go put gas in my car. It was only 2 minutes from home but I managed to get pulled over going 47 in a 40! I so could have told this cop my water just broke, but I didn't want him to think I was lying so I kept my mouth shut. He took one look at my belly and gave me a written warning and let me go. I was so mad and I walked in the house and was telling my mom and I finished the story with "and my water broke". I knew it would be a long labor so I took a shower, called my boyfriend who was at work, made sure I was packed, and headed to the hospital. 20 hours later of labor and 19 minutes of pushing my baby boy was here and I was beyond happy to meet him. I cried so much! Here are some pictures of when he was born and him now today at 9 months old. ππ
