Do you let your LO have some type of small "lovey" in their crib when they sleep?

Reading a sleep book and it says a small "lovey" is okay by 6/7mo. as it can be comforting to the LO in the middle of the night. They actually recommend introducing your LO to a lovey as part of their sleep training. Just curious how many people do this. I recently read a sad news article about a baby who had a blanket in his crib so now the lovey concept makes me nervous.

I introduced one to my daughter at about 6 months. It helps her calm down, and she pets the silk edges, and cuddles it until she falls asleep: she can crawl, stand up, roll around, sit up, so almost everything a 1 year old can do...I know it's always a toss up whether we're making the right choice, but I feel confident in this one.

He is in love with blankets. When he falls asleep with it, I take it away later, before I go to sleep myself, so he doesn't suffocate himself with it.

I read the same article and stopped covering my son with a blanket. I thought the same thing she did, that since he can roll and sit up that he'd be fine. But that poor baby was strangled and theyre so little they can't get themselves out of that :( so nothing but my baby in his crib from now on!

how do you introduce one?  my LO will be 8 months in a few days and hasnt had any interest in a one or a stuffed animal etc.  i read they are good for them but not sure how to make it work.

My LO uses her burp cloths as her lovie. She has been sleeping with one since she was about 4 months old. She holds it to her face and we have never had a problem with it being in the crib with her. It definitely soothes her. My son did the same thing!

I've been giving my LO a blanket since he was 6 months. I know, I know, I'm a horrible mom...but he wouldn't sleep without it. He's been fine, he usually kicks it off and hugs it, but I read the same article and now I'm concerned. We have lovies too, and since he's just hugging the blanket anyway I think I'm going to switch it out for the lovie and see how he does

I just use whatever square muslin I have to hand and what a put on her for feeding before sleep she loves her muslin squares, light and thin and smell like me from feeding and always replaceable!! Very important don't want to have a panic attack over lost best toy or ruined on the wash teddy

Yep! She cuddles and strokes it to sleep. I swear it really is what helps her self soothe. I bought a second that I interchange, because once they get older and one gets worn, they can tell the difference. And when that happens and there's an accident or it's lost or dirty, all hell breaks loose 😂

We use a small lovey with a tiny 8" x 8" blanket attached. He likes to pull it over his face when he's falling asleep, but never sleeps with it covering his face. I gave it to him at about 5 months and kept an eye on him. Now I don't really worry about it. He's strong and knows how to move it around where he wants it. I know it's recommended to not have anything, but I know enough people that have used them so I felt comfortable enough to try it. A large blanket would make me nervous because it would be easy to get tangled and trapped in.

My girl has a small lovie. But he pretty much just sits in the corner. She rolls all over the place in her sleep so she never actually snuggles it
