When did your SO seem to really bond with your baby?

My daughter is 6 weeks old, my husband just doesn't seem to have any connection with her. I know he loves her but he just doesn't show strong interest in holding her, bathing her or anything to really bond with her. I talked to a couple other Mom's and they said they had kind of similar experiences with their husbands and that as their babies got older their husbands bonded more. Anyone else experience this? I am getting really discouraged. He has no idea how to calm her down and she only wants to be with me when we are home.

Before birth! My husband started reading and talking to our LO before he was born, and our son came out knowing daddy's voice :)
Now that he's born, he's definitely bonded, still reads to him and holds him, but as mommy I do a lot of the bathing, changing and feeding (BF). 
I think once they get a little more sentient, that daddies have an easier time bonding because babies spend so much time eating at mom's boob or sleeping.
Its fine with me though, I don't mind the extra time with my LO.

Honestly the older my daughter gets the better he is with her. Don't be too discouraged. I had a really tough time and I was convinced that basically he was going to be a terrible father and he hated our baby. I know it's dramatic lol but I just had a baby and had a lot of feelings 😂. Once our daughter grew up a little, was able to hold her head up, smile... he felt more comfortable with her and he felt more confident as a dad. Now at six months he's like a different person. Give it some time 👌🏼👌🏼

He obviously always loved our baby, but he didn't really seem to start bonding until baby started smiling, so when he could express happiness instead of just crying. He was still easily overwhelmed by baby until about 7-ish months. Now at 10 months he and baby definitely have a strong bond but my SO is insecure about it since baby is at the age when he clings to me and only me.

My husband is pretty much the same way and my LO is 6 months old now. It bothers me so much. I'm a stay at home mom and he's in the military so we're away from family and my little guy is sooo attached to me which I don't mind but I feel like my husband is missing out on that connection with him. However he is showing more interest lately so I think as they get older, it gets better.

I feel the same way! But he is helpful when I ask him to walk the baby or hold him for a second. He's happy to do it but he also likes to sleep 🙃
