Who's last name should I give the baby?

I know people ask this question all the time, but I am so confused about whose last name to give the baby. Me and the father are no longer together - I've been alone this entire pregnancy because he wanted me to get an abortion. He has come around by helping me get baby stuff together and bringing me food, so I told him I'd give the baby both of our last names. But now he says things like "You had other options" when I say something about being in pain or tired. He just recently got back with an ex after he asked me and the baby to move in with him and I agreed. This completely screwed me over as I live in a studio apartment and can't move at 35 weeks pregnant. He doesn't ask about the baby ever and hasn't been to a single appointment. (To be fair I also never invited him.) And he wants a paternity test when the baby gets here. Giving him my last name only will cause a fight for sure. What should I do??

I meant to hit your last name. Girl, why name your baby after the daddy it never had? You're the daddy and mommy, it's all you girl. And if he tries to fight you on it or argue it, let us know and we'll come fight him 💪🏼 literally hate guys like this

me and the dad broke up and I tried asking him if he wanted her to have his last name he didn't care so I decided to use mine and you should use yours if that's what you want don't feel bad or worried it will cause a fight he should have shown more interest xx

I went through this and would never do it again. It was a battle to change it. It boils down to this. No marriage = moms last name and Married = your SO last name or hyphenated. Legally it's better for you.

I agree, he's showing no interest at all so I say your last name. Also, you may not invite him to the appointments,  but any sane person would know you have them so he should ask if he really was interested. It says a lot about him. Do your last name, and don't worry about the possibility of causing an argument. You're grown and can simply walk away or hang up. You don't have to tolerate him. Keep records of anything he says: you should've gotten rid of it, denying the child etc.

He wants a paternity test but also wants the baby to have his last name and has constantly screwed you around? Give that child your last name or at the most hyphenate it, you're the one that's going to be looking after them for their whole life and it honestly sounds like you're the only one who wanted them x
