Am I wasting the best years of my life?

Girls help me out! 
Am I being a crazy girlfriend or what? 
So me and my partner have been together for 5 years this October... however we are not engaged yet and it's heart breaking seeing all my friends get engaged who have only been with each other for a year or a year and a half. We do talk about marriage and kids and we are currently saving for a house deposit but I need that extra commitment of an engagement. Am I being a jealous person? 
I just don't want to be wasting my young years with him and for him to turn around one day and decide he doesn't want to be with me. We do love each other but when is it going to be my time ?

First of all don't compare your relationship to others. Secondly buying a house is a pretty damn big commitment, I don't think he's planning on dipping if he wants to be a home owner with you... that's a big asset to split up. Be grateful you guys took your time and made an informed decision and will have a stronger foundation than the couples who got married in a year or a year and a half... those are the couples that find the first few years of marriage difficult. Also think about what you really want in life... it seems silly to leave a man you love and want a future with because it's not happening quick enough. Besides, of you left him you'd still be stuck trying to find someone new that you love enough to share all the things you want with, that takes time too... probably more time than you'd have to wait for a proposal.

We've been together 6.5 years and still not officially engaged. I used to feel just how you do and eventually saw enough of my friends get together, move In together, get engaged, have a baby, & get separated/divorced that I'm glad we've waited this long. We do plan on getting married soon. But of all our friends, we have the healthiest relationship and I feel it's cuz we've done everything on OUR terms. Not MY terms or HIS or THEIRS.... OURS! We're in the best place we've been. The way I see it now is "If it ain't broke don't break it"

I'm 38 he's 28. We have been together almost 5 years as well. We are in no rush. I don't compare myself to anyone. By the time I get married. All the ones that got married young will be divorced or on their 2nd or 3rd marriages. Which is how most people my age that I went to school with ended up. I take my time. We enjoy our relationship. We are best friends. We took it slow from the beginning. Got to know each other well. We never fight. We aren't the all over social media type. Still says we are both single even. Our relationship is no ones business. Those that know us know we are together and that's all that matters. Neither of us seek validation or competition  with anyone else. The question you need to ask yourself. Are you happy in your relationship. Are you just feeling anxious. Do you feel lonely. Is what you have enough. Do you see yourself spending the rest of your life with this man. Can you be patient and wait until he's ready. Have you talked about if you want a big or small wedding. You gotta save for that and a house. Kids cost a fortune. There's a lot of planning that needs to be done. Is he worth the wait.  Are you willing to wait. We can't answer those questions. My honey is worth the wait. Best relationship I've ever been in for both of us. I wish I would have stayed single and waited for him and spared myself so much bs and abused over the years. That's the man I'm going to marry some day. The most patient and understanding man. In the meantime. Enjoy the relationship. And each other's company. Do things you haven't done in a long time. Have fun together. Go to the park. Swing on swings. Blow bubbles. Fly a kite. play frisbee. Catch fireflies, just don't forget to poke holes in the lid. Etc. Figure out if this is what you really want. I know mine is. Good luck.

I've been with my boyfriend for five years and we know we're going to get married and have kids but we're not engaged nor plan on it for awhile. Personally I don't think there's a rush, but you should just talk to him to find out more what's going on. Good luck girly ❤️

First, how old are you? Second, did engagement only become a topic of interest after watching your friends get engaged? This is why I try to avoid social media (besides Glow). I don't want to see what all of my friends are doing all of the time. When it's your time... it's your time. Don't compare yourself to others. It will lead to disappoints and create problems that were not there originally.

Heads up! If y'all buy a house and you're not married yet, make sure BOTH of your names are on the house. Not sure about your state, but in Texas that's his property bc he owned it prior to marriage.

I wouldn't buy a house with him unless you guys were at the VERY LEAST engaged. You guys are young, though. And obviously 17-20 (even older one would argue) is reallyyyyy young to get engaged so it kinda looks like he's not ready yet. I know it's been five years but I'd feel different about it if you guys were dating from 25-30.

i'm right there with you😕. i mean we haven't been together as long as you guys have (almost 3 years, living together for 2)
this past weekend his best friend told him he's planning on proposing to his girlfriend, granted they do not live together and since my boyfriend and i have been together have fights where they break up and get back together. 
and my boyfriend was telling me how he told him they should move in together before agreeing to something like that. 
breaks my heart knowing we've been living together and nothing and that seems like that's his only problem with them getting engaged.. but yet we already live together and 🤷🏼‍♀️
