Non Profit

I'm 21. I have a car payment and student loans. I work part-time.

But I want to start a non profit. Is that unrealistic? I want to start a program for domestic violence victims. Should I focus on other things first? When I tell people they discourage me and tell me "maybe in the future". But I want to make a difference now. Should I just forget it though? Focus on getting a better job?
