What is Endometriosis???

Hi Everyone, I was told that I have endometriosis and that due to that I can't have children. That and my uterus is tilted backwards. I'm new to the endometriosis thing and I'm not really sure what's going on. Can anyone give me any insight? I just want to have a baby 💜

It's when the lining of your womb (The Endometrium) grows in the abdominal cavity. This causes lesions, scars and various other complications. For some women, endo is very painful, and for others it isn't. There are varying stages of endometriosis (1-4). Some women manage to conceive normally, some struggle and need various fertility treatments, and some are infertile. In some cases, the endometriosis can be so severe that you require a full or partial hysterectomy. Doctors do not know what causes endometriosis, and there is currently no cure for it. There are only hormonal treatments and pain management. As you've been diagnosed, I should hope that they will explain this too you properly in the near future. Endometriosis can be a horrible disease, but with that being said, with the right management, it is possible to live a relatively normal life. I have Endometriosis (confirmed by laparoscopy) and a retroverted uterus. It took me about 8 months to conceive my first child, and I did it completely natural ( No IVF, medications, IUI, etc). I'm currently 8 weeks along and my doctor says that once you hear the heartbeat on an ultrasound at 7-8 weeks and make sure the baby is implanted in the right place that there is no greater risk of miscarriage than any other normal person would have. They also said that the pregnancy itself isn't high risk after that point (because by then they will rule out an ectopic pregnancy) and that Endometriosis cannot cause birth defects (apparently people in the past believed it could but in reality it was hormone treatment for the Endometriosis that was being taking while ttc that caused the defects). My doctor told me I couldn't conceive naturally and set me up for another surgery, I found out the day before that I got pregnant naturally. My advice to you is that if you really want to get pregnant that you and your partner should both get on prenatal vitamins (there are special ones for guys too!) and use the sperm meets egg intercourse schedule for at least 6mo-1yr before taking any more costly or invasive measures. I just had someone scare me by saying on the off chance that I do get pregnant the endo can hurt the baby and I should stop trying... Is it true should I just give up I don't want to hurt the baby if I ever do get pregnant
