Chromosomal abnormalities test coming up... I'm nervous about the test. What should I expect?

On Friday 04/24/15 I have a doctors appointment to do test for chromosomal abnormalities & they say they will check the fluids that surround the baby & the fluids in the baby's necks. I will be 12 weeks & 1 day. I'm excited about being able to see my baby marshmallow but I am scared because I don't want nothing to be wrong. Has anybody done these test & what should I expect? I'm so nervous 😞😢

I was worried when I had mine done with my 2yr old. The blood work showed an elevated risk for downs. We did an amnio because I wanted to know in case so I could prepare myself. The amnio itself is very uncomfortable and a little painful. The worst part is waiting for the call about the results. Chances are probably slim you'll have anything to worry about so just relax and try not to stress. I know it's hard but knowing is half the battle, from there you can educate yourself IF they find something and then just enjoy the pregnancy experience. Good luck mama.

I live in California.And we have been told about the NIPT test for chromosomes testing. Which is non invasive meaning it only needs blood from me not anything from the amniotic sac. Ask your hospital about it. May be it's available at a higher price but I feel it's worth it. All the best.
