What does it mean when he likes you but won’t talk to you?

So, I met this guy in the beginning of the summer that I used to go to high school with. I just got out of a relationship when he pursued me so I truly wasn’t interested at the time. We started talking a little more and whenever I wouldn’t text back he would send me cute little texts like “Hope you’re okay I haven’t heard from you”. He was so persistent and that’s what really attracted me to him because that was one of the underlying issues of why me and my ex broke up. Anyway, we got together to talk in person and hang out. We had the longest car conversation that ended up with us having sex. After everything, I thought that was the worst thing I could have done. He told me that it was okay and that I shouldn’t feel bad about myself and that he would call me tomorrow. He did and we hung out again. The attraction and compassion was so strong between us we had sex again, and again the next morning. Later that night, everything changed. I texted him that night only for him to ignore me. Like he literally quit me cold turkey. I didn’t understand. Why after 5 days did he wait to have nothing to do with me afterwards? Two weeks went by and he reached out to me again. He said he needed to talk to me about how he acted the past few weeks. I only agreed to see him to hear him out. Long story short he told me he liked me he just didn’t want to get too close because he gets too attached. I didn’t take him seriously when he told me this because it sounded like a bullshit excuse. I never allowed him to hurt me like that ever again. I realized I didn’t need to be so involved with someone that soon anyway, I was too vulnerable but he was giving me everything that I was missing. We casually have sex to this day and I still like him and he says he still likes me too. I want to talk to him everyday but I don’t. And he won’t talk to me either. I tried getting him to open up to me but he just won’t.. What should I do? Advice, please.
