Ring shopping and proposal?!

Question

How long did it take you and/or your man to research, shop, pick out, design, purchase, size, etc. your ring? How long was the whole process? 
Also, how did you know your guy was ready to pop the question and was there anything that helped get to that point?

My husband bought me a ring about 6 months after we met but didn't propose until about a year. He knew I was the one but wanted to plan it out special ♥️

I found out after the fact, that it took my husband a few months to find the perfect diamond for my engagement ring. 
We have the same Birthday, so he waited one more month for our Birthday weekend to pop the question. Generally he's very romantic so I really had no idea that he was going to propose. 
Wedding rings were picked out about two months before our wedding and took a week or so to be mounted and sized. 
We bought a home before we even got engaged, but I made it clear to him from the start that I wanted to be married. We did speak about marriage and a future together, so I knew we were on the same page.

My husband had some things he wanted to take care of before we married, some debt and a few other things. 
He told me straight out that he wouldn't ask until those things were done. (He's very open about... everything)
Still, it only took 2 years to get engaged, we agreed on a cheap engagement ring and a short engagement.  The ring was too big because we ordered it online but I didn't mind. I only wore it less than two months and we checked our sizes and bought our wedding bands on Etsy.  
He's funny, he told me the day he asked my dads blessing but didn't actually propose for another week... talk about suspense. Lol
