down syndrome in baby
i got a call from my doctor yesterday saying they need me in today as soon as possible pretty much and that they found something abnormal in the blood work that had come back.. so i go in this morning and they tell me that my baby has down syndrome, its not from anything environmental it does not run in either of our family's.. it is because the baby had an extra chromosome and there was nothing we could have done about it.. the weird part to all of this is that its very common in woman 35 and older but i am 18. it was a one an a million chance for this to ever happen to me but it did. i take this news as hard news but not bad news. my baby is so healthy and strong and kicking me everyday. tomorrow i go in to the hospital to get a very close look and 3d ultrasounds to see the nose.. the toes and fingers to see where my baby is at with it.. the doctor told me i could get re tested to see if it may have been false but its a 1% chance.. i never expected this and i know nobody with a child who has DS so itll all be a day at a time and a learning process but i feel very blessed to have a healthy baby and i wouldnt change them for the world. if anybody has been through this or knows someone who has please feel free to leave advice and comments i really need the support right now. this has been one of the hardest days for me but i really want to be informed and know more about familys with babys who also have it.
