I feel dumb but I'm so upset by this

So we're leaving Walmart (my fiance, our roommate (finances friend), my daughter and I) and there is this chick panhandling. My fiance and roommate were asking what her sign said. My fiances response is "I don't know but that was one hit ass bitch". I feel he spoke as if I wasn't in the car. I am fuming, still after a few hours. I can't calm down. It makes me wonder how he talks or reacts to females when I'm not in the car. Am I over reacting?? It may be pregnancy hormones but come on
