Would you let your son wear nail polish if he asked ?

My son is 4 and asks my sister to put nail polish on him... my sons dad messaged me complaining that he has nail polish on saying he is a boy not a girl and that it’ll confuse him.

People think a child's sense of self and gender is so delicate. Wearing dresses, playing with dolls, playing in makeup, does not make a boy gay or confused. Liking other boys does. And a parent that insists the things they like to do are for girls or gay, that's confusing.

No. I would explain to my son that wearing nail polish in that way is what girls do and he is a boy- not a girl. If my daughter asked to pee standing up or in the men's room, I would explain that she is a girl and should act as a lady. But that's what I would do with MY kids. You have t choose for yours. I DO believe that a father should have a say. Especially with his son.

Yea my son wanted nail polish every time my daughter got it when he was between 2-4 years old now he is 5 and he’s like that’s for girls. Never confused him when he was little he just thought he was having fun with us. He actually asked for Spider-Man colors or hulk smash fingers most of the time.

You should say professional baseball catchers wear nail polish. So why can't my son? Sorry you have to deal with this. He is a kid and have fun and if that means nail polish go right ahead and let him wear some. He probably just wants to be like his sister, or looks up to people who wear polish.

Well your son’s dad is stupid. Let him wear nail polish if he wants. My little cousin wanted everything pink, always wanted to wear make up and dresses and always had his nails painted when he was 4/5... he’s 11 now and a handsome, most manly preteen I’ve seen lol.

I definitely would. A child with a penis isn’t going to melt just because they are wearing nail polish. I would rather not teach my kid that it isn’t okay to against the norm with something so harmless. Self expression is important and I don’t see anything wrong with it.
