Should daycare be close to home or work?

I have a pretty lengthy commute to work (45 mins to 1 hour). I am looking into daycares for my little one but I’m not sure if I should look for ones near our house or near my job. What do you think?

The perk of being close to work is that if something happens, you can be there quickly. The perk of being close to home is that baby doesn’t waste 2 hours in the car each day. I️ chose close to home.

I picked closer to my work so that I could visit my baby during my lunch hour. my son's daycare was a 5 minute walk from my work so I could go down feed him his lunch and snuggle with him until he fell asleep for his nap.

Work, it is easier to drop them off on your way and if they are sick or another emergency quicker pick up. If you have family close to your home who can pick up in those cases then closer to home is fine, especially if your little one wouldn't enjoy all the time in the car.

I run daycare and one of my clients works 1.5 hrs away, she choses close to home because I charge less and her family is close to me in case something happens.

I chose close to home because of the harsh winters where I live. Roads can get dicy quick and I was driving perfectly one day and got into a T bone crash after work before I got to pick him up. A truck came out of nowhere and totaled my car. I was so glad baby wasn't there.

I went through a similar debate at one point. I chose work so she'd be with me longer and closer to me if she ever got sick and I needed to pick her up from daycare. Also, with the hours I was working, places weren't open until I got closer to work anyways.

Work, because that's the reason for having them in daycare in the first place, and that way you'll also be closer in the event of an emergency

I think it’s important to also factor in back ups... family, etc who would pick up kiddo in an emergency

I️ have the same commute and chose closer to home. My husbands job is closer so he will be doing most of the drop off/pick ups. But when he travels for work I️ can do it. If the daycare was near my work, it would be really out of the way for my husband to ever take him.

i think it depends on your situation.  if you have an so will they ever be dropping off? if so do they work close to your work?
