How do you afford it?!

How has anyone been able to pay for infertility treatments?? Neither of our insurances cover any infertility whatsoever. We have to use a sperm donor, which is at least less expensive than the other option of adoption but still, just my initial meet and greet/informational appointment is $300 due that day. I can't imagine what it's going to be once we start the actual process...I know that whatever it takes to have a child is worth it but I just don't know how we can come up with this money 😔

We saved as much as possible from each paycheck, and did a couple fundraisers. Didn't start treatments again until we had enough for at least 6 cycles (starting with femara) We didn't want to put it on a credit card, have it fail, and have that reminder every month when had to make a payment.

We put it on a zero interest credit card and paying it off over 18 months.

My HMO insurance pays for all the doctor visits and testing with my usual copay. For the first IVF cycle we had to refinance my car loan at the credit union to get money. For our second cycle, my husband got a new job that paid better so we were able to save up. For our third cycle... well, we are having to sell stock from our savings. I know we are lucky to have that as a back up and I can’t imagine how we would afford it with just our salaries.
