What does ‘commitment issues’ mean?!?!?

Have you heard this before and what came out of it?

Started hanging with this guy and I did NOT want a boyfriend. But he just kept being so nice to me, and I started to actually really like him. Long story short the other day he told me he had commitment issues. At first I felt bad for him and was like ‘o noooo you’re so handsome you’ll be fine don’t be hard on yourself.’ THEN I got home and was like SHIT did he just snuuuuuub me?! Did he just say that because he is trying to tell me he doesn’t want a girlfriend?

By the way I️m WAY out of his league, and I gave him a chance by even hanging out with him.

SO WHAT DOES COMMITMENT ISSUES MEAN?!?!!
