i have feelings for my best friend

so recently i have developed strong feelings for my boy best friend of 2 and a half years. i’ve always felt close to him and enjoyed his company but over the past 3 months i have noticed myself falling for him hard. he got out of a relationship a couple of months ago now, should i tell him? i’ve been told that he flirts with me and that there might be something there on his behalf but im not too sure, i dont want to embarrass myself or worse ruin our friendship, im terrified that i’ll lose him 😣 should i tell him i have feelings for him? help!!
